Kudos for Employing the Disabled
Laguna Beach’s Montage resort was honored with a “Spotlight Award by the Regional Center of Orange County, which coordinates services for 17,000 residents with developmental disabilities and their families.
Last month’s program in Anaheim honors those who have advanced the quality of life for people with developmental disabilities.
Montage’s general manager Todd Orlich was singled out for employing 10 individuals with developmental disabilities in various positions throughout the resort, including steward, dishwasher, laundry sorter, and spa attendant.
‘Uncorked’ Pours Out a Vine Experience
An estimated 800 guests experienced tastes from 30 wineries from around the world and samplings from 20 Laguna Beach restaurants during Laguna Beach Uncorked!, a wine and food fest that took place early last month.
The event benefitting CHOC Children’s Hospital raised $10,000. Wine sales led by Laguna Culinary Arts raised additional funding for CHOC.
Spotlight Catches Up to Town’s Super Organizer
Sande St. John, known for her years as a volunteer event organizer, received deserving accolades at the Laguna Beach Seniors seventh annual Legacy Ball last month.
About 174 guests, including past Legacy Ball recipients and former leaders of the organization, turned out for the fundraiser organized by Terri Johnson and Bea Field at Newport Beach’s Pelican Hill Resort. Auctioneer Pat Kollenda helped prod guests into contributing towards the organization, which has received $70,000 so far, Nadia Babayi, executive director, reported this week.
