The Pacific Symphony’s 37th season opening “Ode to Joy” dinner was attended by 270 guests and raised $150,000 to support artistic and education programs.

The first concert of the classical series Oct. 1 featured Beethoven’s Ninth led by Music Director Carl St.Clair and was the centerpiece of an evening of dinner, receptions live entertainment and dancing.

The highly anticipated new composition “Beyond Land and Ocean,” written for the symphony by its composer-in-residence, Narong Prangcharoen, was performed prior to intermission. The second half showcased the Pacific Chorale and world-class soloists alongside musicians, a union between symphony and voice.
