Breakers Conclude Successful Season
Coach Mike Blair’s inaugural run concluded with the second best season in Laguna Beach High School history as the Breakers finished 18-9 on the year and 10-5 in the Orange Coast League standings. Followers of the team are expecting another top season in 2013 as a large core of the squad returns, including the top pitchers and the top five hitters.
Last Thursday at Citrus College, Laguna dropped a tough 6-2 contest to second-ranked La Salle from Pasadena. Laguna had opportunities from the start but could not convert them into runs when the momentum was needed. Robbie McInerny singled, Grant Wilhelm sacrificed him to second and Larry Stewart added another hit but the threat ended there. Lancers came back to scored three in the bottom of the first to seize control of the contest. Laguna’s runs came in the sixth inning off a near home run by sophomore slugger Steven Harrison.
