Football (2-1)
Breakers played tough but lacked depth to compete with the visitors from Segerstrom, which resulted in the lopsided score.
The Jaguars scored off Laguna’s first punt, but the teams seemed even, trading possessions until Laguna scored off a six-play drive on the second play in the second quarter. Breakers drove again on their next possession, but settled for a Sean Nolan field goal to lead 10-7 with just over five minutes remaining in the contest.
After that, the visitors controlled the clock, taking advantage of a number of Breaker miscues to create the scoring opportunities. Things only get tougher this week as Laguna traveled to Orange to face the Orange Panthers (3-0) at Kelly Field adjacent to El Modena HS. Next week, Laguna is at St. Margaret’s in San Juan Capistrano for a 7 p.m. game on Friday, Sept. 23.
