Dawson Cole Gallery Marks 25 Years

Dawson Cole Fine Art hosts two receptions this weekend for a retrospective exhibit of Richard Macdonald’s work from the past 25 years, featuring original  sculptures, drawings and paintings.

An artist reception will take place Saturday, Nov. 9, from 8 to 10 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 10, from noon to 3 p.m., 326 Glenneyre St.

Artists Jorg Dubin, Emanuel Dale and Josie Weber took top honors, respectively, in the city’s annual juried competition, announced by Mayor Kelly Boyd at an artist reception last month.

The Arts Commission received submissions from throughout the county, which were juried by Max Presneill, director of the Torrance Art Museum.

Honorable mentions went to KC Horng, Tom Lamb and Michael McGregor.

Experience Festival Artists at Nature Exhibit

The Festival of Arts’ new “Perspectives on Nature” exhibit at Laguna Beach’s Wells Fargo Bank will be on display Nov. 7 through Jan. 19, and will showcase the artwork of over 20 exhibitors.

The public is welcome to join the artists for a free reception on Saturday, Nov. 16, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.

The exhibit is apart the Laguna Art Museum’s Art and Nature festival and conference presented by.

“Dreamscapes,” the abstract paintings of Ann Kim and “Traces of Yesterday,” monotype block prints of Anne Moore, will be featured Nov. 6-Dec. 2 at Laguna Beach’s Sandstone Gallery, 384 N. Coast Highway.
