Art Walk Sting is Draconian

Editor,

In citing galleries for serving wine during Art Walk, our police department demonstrates what is a glaring lack of foresight and perspective.

Instead of looking at the broader picture and seeing that locals getting to meet and talk and socialize is a positive in a community, which would certainly lead to less crime in the long run, and accepting that in the process perhaps two or three under age people will have a drink (and we’re looking at 18 to 21 year olds, not children!), they pursue draconian measures that punish good, law-abiding citizens. The actions are detrimental to the entire community, including businesses!

  1. Preach it! So WRONG what our Police Department did!!!!!!

Did they ticket any hair salons which give out wine and beer???

Why were our art galleries singles out?

Wasn’t the $15,000 in grants by ABC to be used to deter alcohol purchases by minors and fewer DUIs????

    Many, many unanswered questions.

  2. There obviously needs to be more educational outreach to our community since most only come out for art walk..
What is it so hard to remember alcohol needs to be licensed and controlled???
