Weddings Bring Joy to Children
A Laguna Beach couple, Scott and Erin Ferrel, decided to donate to Make-A-Wish Foundation instead of receiving the usual wedding gifts when they tied the knot.
“There was no better way to celebrate one of the happiest days of my life than by sharing the love and abundance of support from our family and friends and making a child’s wish come true,” said Erin, whose little brother, Brandon, visited several amusement parks complements of Make a Wish before his death from cancer.
At their wedding in September of 2010, the couple’s family and friends contributed more than $10,000 and adopted the wishes of two local children; 3-year-old Zachary’s wish to have a “Cars” themed birthday party and 5-year-old Robert’s wish to go to Disney World.

Philanthropist Adds $1M to Foundation
A longtime resident who wishes to remain anonymous and was an initial supporter of the Laguna Beach Community Foundation has contributed another $1 million to the organization.
“I love Laguna and look forward, along with my family, to working with the Community Foundation and recommending donations to a wide variety of nonprofits,” said the unidentified donor in a statement released this week. The donor’s fund was established to contribute to a wide range of nonprofits including those benefitting children in difficult home and cultural environments, animals, the environment, education, music, art and health and wellness in Laguna Beach and beyond.
