New Team Seizes the Airwaves

Radio station KX 93.5 will put a new group of local leaders and personalities in the sound booth on Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 15 and 16, during a fundraising drive.

Instead of the main staff, locals will be featured live on the air all day including Mayor Bob Whalen, Coucil member Toni Iseman, Ranch owner Mark Christy, dance fan and realtor Bobbi Cox and marketing maven Carrie Reynolds.

The temporary team will help bring in pledges during the station’s membership drive for pledges.

With a pledge of $50 or more, listeners can become members of the radio station to help ensure stays on the air.

Jim Kennedy, left, and Ari Grayson have teamed up for a new political talk show.

Two volunteer talk show hosts on FM radio station KX 93.5 teamed up for the first time this past Sunday, Dec. 7, on a new show, the Laguna Roundtable, described as as Orange County’s only political talk show.

Jim Kennedy and Ari Grayson, who hold down different sides of the political spectrum, can be heard together on Sundays weekly at 8 a.m.

“Adding Laguna Roundtable allows our station to be at the forefront of both local and national political issues,” said Tyler Russell, program director of the station, which mainly plays alternative rock weekdays. At night and weekends, listeners hear an array of programs produced by volunteer hosts on the station.

Kennedy said he looks forward to debating issues with Grayson, who he described as bringing “an interesting perspective from the other side of the aisle to the program.”

“Jim is quite sharp and thought-provoking and I know we can disagree without being disagreeable,” said Grayson. “His expertise on many issues is different from mine, so I look forward to learning from him and possibly teaching him a thing or two,”

Laguna Roundtble can be live streamed at www.kx935.com/live. Podcasts of the show are available at www.KX935.com.
