Former Laguna Beach resident Rose Adams turns 101 on Jan. 28 and still possesses a sense of humor and a sharp mind.

As a longtime resident, Adams enjoyed walking the town and striking up conversations with the other residents from several vantage points, according to Sylvia Huber, daughter of Adam’s best friend when the women attended Los Angeles Junior College in the ‘30s.

Initially, Adams began exploring the town from a vacation home built on St. Ann’s Drive in the ‘30s by her late husband, Dr. Carl Adams.

When Dr. Adam’s retired, the couple moved permanently to Laguna and moved to a larger North Laguna home on Sunset Ridge Drive. After her husband’s death in 1987, Adams took up residence in a Cliff Drive condo.

During World War II, Adams volunteered with the Red Cross. She was also an active volunteer at the former South Coast Medical Center stroke rehab program and at the Kiwanis orange juice bar during summer Pageant of the Masters’ shows.

Even in her older years, she was the secretary of her condo association.

Adams has since moved to Reno, Nev., to be near to her son, Carl Adams Jr. Her other son, John Adams, resides in Omaha, Neb.

Birthday wishes can be sent to: Rose Adams, 4880 Summit Ridge Dr #215, Reno, NV 89523.
