Laguna Canyon Conservancy to Meet April 1

Poison-Free Malibu’s Joel Schulman will speak on the “Poison Epidemic Affecting Wilderness Parks” at the Laguna Canyon Conservancy’s next meeting on April 1.

Poison-Free Malibu’s Joel Schulman will speak about “The Poison Epidemic Affecting our Wilderness Parks” at the Laguna Canyon Conservancy’s next meeting on April 1.

Poison-Free Malibu (PFM) has worked since 2012 to educate the public on the dangers to predators from the use of rat poison and the ecological role they play in controlling rodents. PFM started in the Santa Monica Mountains of southern California, where 90 percent of mountain lions, bobcats, coyotes, raptors and other carnivores have been found to have poison in their systems due to their proximity to urban centers. Schulman will review the extent of the problem with wildlife, pets, and children, and review the alternatives which have been found to be superior to using poisons.

The event takes place at Seven 7 Seven, 777 Laguna Canyon Road. To reserve and pay for your dinner, visitwww.LagunaCanyonConservancy.org, or email or call Linda Mayer at [email protected]or 714-812-6813. Dinner cost is $15 for members, $20 for non-members and may be paid at the door with prior reservations. Doors are open at 6 p.m.
