Firefighters extinguished a structure fire in a residence in the 2300 block of Temple Hills Drive on Dec. 29.
Laguna Beach emergency dispatch received a 911 call regarding smoke escaping a fireplace at 4:24 a.m., according to city records. The Laguna Beach Fire Department responded with four engines and a battalion chief. The Orange County Fire Authority also sent an engine to assist with putting out the blaze.
Laguna Beach police temporarily closed both traffic lanes on Temple Hills Drive to assist the staging fire engines. The Incident Command post was disbanded around 7 a.m. but Laguna Beach firefighters remained on scene to mop up smoldering embers, according to city records.
Crews successfully extinguished the fire which was contained inside a wall and no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
