Library Spotlights a Favorite Son

The Newport Beach Arts Commission honors California scene painter Rex Brandt on Saturday, Nov. 1, at the Central Library, 1000 Avocado Ave., which hosts an exhibition of the local resident’s work and a 2 p.m. program and reception.

Exhibition curator Gordon McClelland will host the program and a friend will provide information about the work of the artist, an early faculty member of what became Laguna College of Art & Design.

New Exhibit Opens Upstairs in the Bank

Community Art Project opened “Keepers of Light,” this week, featuring the works of Mark Hosmer and Veronica Schmitt in the Banking on Art Gallery on the second floor of Wells Fargo Bank, 260 Ocean Ave.

The works of these two artists focuses on light and its effect on the visual landscape. The public can meet and talk with the artist at a reception from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 27.
