Free Hawaiian Hula Performance

From Honolulu and the Mid-Pacific Institute School of the Arts, Pupukahi I Ke Alo O Na Pua (“United as One in the Presence of the Flowers”) will share the culture of Hawai’i through song and dance. “Hula is the art of Hawaiian dance expressing all that we see, hear, smell, taste, touch and feel,” states instructor Michael Casupang. All are welcome Tuesday, Feb. 22, from 9:30-10:30 for a free performance.

The Energy of Authentic Happiness Workshop

Led by Dr. Veeder South, PhD. in energy and kinetics from UCLA and the founder of Advanced Awareness Training, this workshop will show you how to balance your core personality traits with your inner life force to create harmony of mind, body and spirit and to tap into the true source of loving relationships.   The cost is $25 per person or $40 per couple; Saturday, Feb. 26 from 9 a.m. to noon

Making Sense of Medicare

Presentations sponsored by the Council on Aging. Topics include: what Medicare covers; supplemental insurance; Medicare private health plans; Part D Prescription Coverage; Health Care Reform and Medicare. Intermediate Bridge Lessons:

This eight-week class beginning on Monday, Feb. 28 from 9:30-11:30, is designed for players who want to brush up on their bridge skills. Registration and pre-payment are required.  Fee for the series: $95.

Free Tax Preparation Service

IRS trained volunteers provide free basic tax assistance to those with middle to low income and with simple tax returns every Wednesday and Thursday morning until April.  Tax aide volunteers are trained to assist with filing form 1040 and the more standard schedules including A and B.  Call for a free appointment.

Alzheimer’s Caregiver Support Group

Join us the first Wednesday of every month from 12:30-2:00 for an informational meeting and informal discussion.  Strategies will be shared for dealing with loved ones who are affected by the disease.

Braille Institute Support Group

Those interested in forming a support group for individuals suffering from vision loss should call the Susi Q.

Wanted: Backgammon, Cribbage and Domino Players

The center is trying to schedule organized play for those interested in backgammon, cribbage or dominoes. Those interested are encouraged to call.
