Michael John Allard of Laguna Beach passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, June 11, 2015.

Michael was born April 18, 1954, at Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Orange to John and Tania Allard of Newport Beach. Later the family moved to Corona del Mar, where Mike grew up and learned to surf at a very young age, so began his passion for surfing and love for the ocean.

He was not only a talented surfer, but also a talented musician playing the bass guitar in several bands throughout his life. Although a somewhat private and quiet person, he was a generous and giving person finding the best in everyone he met.

Not only did Allard have a love for people, but also animals and nature. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother and friend.

Allard had a bright smile, contagious laugh and gentle spirit. He was a hard, dedicated worker. As much as he loved the ocean and music, he was equally as passionate about his work. Every day Allard looked forward to meeting with his customers, co-workers, and longtime associates.

If there was only one way to sum up Mike’s life, everyone who knew him would agree he was “a kind soul.”

Allard is survived by his wife of 17 years, Danielle Allard; step daughter Vanessa Craft; mother-in-law Kathie Shields; father-in-law Daniel Walker; brother-in-law Christopher Shields; father John Allard; brother Chris Allard and sister-in-law Diane; his sister Jennifer Munson and brother-in-law Jim; nieces and nephews Jessica Sutton, Jacqueline Stoiloff and Blake and Corwin Allard.

A paddle out is planned for 10 a.m. Sunday, June 28, at Scotchmen’s Cove at Reef Point in Crystal Cove State Park. For more information visit http://mikeallard.com

  1. Mike is always in our hearts. He never had anything on his face but a smile – especially when he greeted my kids at the beach. His love of music and the beach made him a perfect match for our family. Mike will forever be loved by the Cruttendens.
