Three Laguna Beach merchants, Stop N Go Liquor, Whole Foods Market, and the 7 Eleven, recently participated in a Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) training in an effort to prevent and reduce underage drinking.

The training, conducted by the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence and the county Community Alliance Network in collaboration with the Laguna Beach Police Department, was designed to promote responsible management policies and service practices at any site where alcoholic beverages are sold or served.

Merchants learned how to spot underage drinkers and prevent alcohol sales to minors; recognize the signs of intoxication; intervene quickly to prevent potential problem situations; and handle refusal situations with confidence.

Additional RBS trainings are available in Laguna Beach at no cost, and participants who successfully complete training receive a three-year certification. For more information, contact Terah Glass at 949-595-2288, ext. 318, or [email protected].
