Local resident Fred Karger’s quest to be taken seriously on the presidential campaign trail is examined in today’s Los Angeles Times. The story follows his double transformation from closeted political strategist to openly gay GOP presidential hopeful.

Indy readers learned of his first personal campaign to save the Boom Boom Room gay bar in 2006. He went on to uncover the Mormon Church’s role in funding Prop. 8, the initiative banning gay marriage.
