The city sponsored Fourth of July fireworks show will begin at 9 p.m. at Monument Point in Heisler Park. That area of the park will be closed all day, Friday, July 4.  At noon, picnickers in the area of Heisler Park from the Rock Bench at Myrtle Street to the Rockpile Beach stairs at Jasmine Street will be asked to relocate as city officials close the park to allow for preparation of the pyrotechnics.

City trolleys will cease running at 7 p.m. And the city issued a lengthy list of forbidden activities for Independence Day: they include no public parking in the Pavilions center parking lot at Boat Canyon; alcohol or smoking on beaches; tents, canopies, or barbeques in city beaches or parks; and most certainly fireworks of any kind.

Dogs have already been banned from city beaches between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. for summer, a period the city defines as June 15-Sept. 10.

After the show, the center lane of Laguna Canyon Road, between Canyon Acres and El Toro Road, will be reversed to add an additional northbound traffic lane.
