Two 18-year-olds who must have been sampling the goods got themselves arrested on New Year’s Eve in Laguna Beach, but long before the midnight countdown.

Sgt. Tim Kleiser says officers pulled over a car driven by the teens about 4 p.m. because a passenger was leaning out of a car window holding two glass jars full of marijuana.

Altogether, police confiscated 1,200 grams of marijuana in different containers and another bag containing 2.75 pounds of pot from their car, he said.

Brandon Herrera from Dana Point was busted for two felony drug charges as well as driving without a license and an outstanding felony warrant.

His passenger, Austin Vernon from Dublin, Ohio, was arrested for alleged felony possession of concentrated marijuana.

Bail was set at $25,000 for each.

  1. So tired of reading reports on the constant arrest’s and release of criminals in LB. Such as drug dealers and users. Daily news reporting no consequences for these thugs, or the kid’s using is beyond frustrating and wrong. How about some news where Laguna beachers are uniting and insisting on a year or two of jail time and heavy fines for drug dealers. Maybe some actual community service for teens using. No longer tolerating drug dealers in Laguna beach. California needs laws on drugs period. Maybe at least in Laguna, the city can have it’s own laws not allowing or tolerating this any longer. News reporters can help make a difference.
