Zpizza, based in Newport Beach, won the first Ultimate Food Fanatic Awards program for their Nice zSlice anti-bullying program.
Teachers from more than 200 schools nationwide partnered with local Zpizza restaurants, rewarding student kindness with a complimentary slice of pizza. They also hosted pizza parties and provided materials for the educators.
The Zpizza team recently accepted the award in St. Helena, Calif., a five-foot spoon trophy and a $10,000 credit for a kitchen makeover.
Salon Raises Money for Charity
Curls on Top Hair Studio in Laguna Beach along with Lorraine Massey, author of “The Curly Girl Handbook,” successfully raised $10,000 to benefit Keep a Child Alive Foundation, which supports children affected and orphaned by AIDS/HIV in Africa and India.
The event at a private home in North Laguna drew a passel of curly girls for a sunset soiree. The following day salon owner Vickie Vela and Lorraine Massey clipped side by side for a Curls with Purpose cut-a thon.
Fans Keep Glennwood Moving Forward
With support by friends, donors and sponsors, Gratitude for Glennwood 2015 raised close to $150,000 for Glennwood House of Laguna Beach, event chair Danielle Wilson said.
Proceeds provide essential support for programs and the property, and will allow Glennwood to establish a scholarship fund for residents in need. “We strive to keep Glennwood safe, local and affordable!” Wilson said.
