A Bummer No Matter the Season

Editor,

It was the night before Christmas and all through the village a few shoppers were stirring in hopes of ‘shopping local’ to support the community.

I write this letter as a 35-year resident of Laguna Beach. I abide by the laws of parking in our village, have a clean driving record. On Christmas Eve I went down to shop local for a gift at Art for the Soul on Forest Avenue. I parked at a green curb (30min) at 3:50 p.m. Gift purchased (4:15 p.m.), have receipt, back in my car to find a “Christmas Card” (Ticket #43) from City of Laguna Beach, 4:20 p.m. I also have a parking permit on my car.

I requested a hearing in hopes of getting a waiver or a “fix-it-ticket,” so I don’t have to feel the Laguna Beach Parking Division Christmas Eve Scrooge, a.k.a. Officer Duperoy doesn’t have a heart.

Shop locally. Shop cautiously. Shoppers beware.

Jim Panagakos, Laguna Beach
