The TLC Branch of the Boys and Girls Club honored global youth-service day by partnering with the Clean Water Now! Coalition for their first beach clean-up last Friday, April 15.
Coalition founder Roger Butow supervised the cleanup after explaining to participants the impact of non-organic debris on marine habitats. Accompanied by program coordinator Lauren Landers, the volunteers removed 50 pounds of trash from Agate to Cress Street beaches, including discarded alcohol bottles and cans, tiny foam scraps, deflated balloons and cigarette butts.
Torch Club members were amazed at the garbage carelessly dumped onto Laguna’s sands.
