Summer Fun Fundraises for Boys & Girls Club

 

Tenants of the Aliso Creek Plaza Shopping Center will hold an End of Summer Bash and fundraising event on Saturday, Aug. 17, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to support the Boys & Girls Club of Laguna Beach.

 

The event organized by United Studios of Self Defense will include a bounce house, dunk tank, and food by the center’s restaurants, including Z-Pizza, La Sirena Grill, and Starfish. Silent auction and raffle items donated by local businesses and residents will be sold and many vendors plan to participate.

Committee Members Sought

Laguna Beach’s City Council is accepting applications for residents who want to serve on the Housing and Human Services Committee for two-year terms. The terms of three members expire on Oct. 31.

The committee advises the council on affordable housing and applications are due to the City Clerk’s office by Tuesday, Sept. 24 at 5 p.m. Applicants will be interviewed by the City Council on Oct 1 at 6 p.m.

Similarly, applications for the Waste Management Task Force are due by Tuesday, Aug. 30, at 5 p.m. The Task Force will consist of a seven member advisory body: five residents, and two City Council members. In addition, a staff representative from the water quality department will work as a liaison.

Residents interested in applying to either group will find an application that is available online at www.lagunabeachcity.net or in the City Clerk’s office.

Each councilmember will select one resident to serve on the task force. Applicants will not be interviewed by the City Council.

 

Amateurs Invited to Ping Pong Competition

The public is invited to break out their paddles for the third annual Susi Q Amateur Table Tennis Tournament on Saturday, Aug. 24, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Register for the event at The Susi Q, 380 Third St. The entry fee is $10 for members and $15 for non-members.

 

Resort Hosts Red Cross Blood, Marrow Drive

Come to the American Red Cross Blood Drive and Be the Match Bone Marrow Drive at Montage, 30801 S. Coast Hwy on Thursday, Aug. 22.

The drive is located in the grand ballroom from 7:30 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. Valet parking is complimentary.

Parking with Free Trolley

Free parking is available in North Laguna at the Boat Canyon Pavilions parking lot, which is served by the city’s free trolley daily.

The parking lot is located at 600 N. Coast Hwy and there are approximately 50 free spaces in the rear of the parking lot daily from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 p.m. A city attendant staffs the lot during operating hours. Temporary signage along southbound Coast Highway directs drivers to the free parking area.

 

Laguna Beach resident Melisa Volpicelli’s daughter Alexandra, will be presented as a Coronet Debutante on Nov. 30, in the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

 

Montage Expands to Maui

The Kapalua Bay hotel Montage will manage.

Montage Hotel and Resorts announced its expansion as manager of Montage Kapalua Bay in Maui.

The resort, formerly the Kapalua Bay Hotel and presently operated as The Residences at Kapalua Bay, will undergo a multi-million dollar improvement beginning this fall, with plans for 56 homes and a 50 room all-suite hotel.

The company’s other properties include its original resort in Laguna Beach, as well as ones in Beverly Hills and Utah’s Deer Valley.
