Thurston Middle School’s Epic Challenge, a new fundraiser conceived by the school’s enterprising PTA, recently raised $23,000, all of which will directly support the school’s PTA and educational programs.
Generously sponsored by Mission Hospital and Bank of America, the Epic Challenge was held during student P.E. classes at the end of last month and consisted of 10 events modeled after the TV shows, “The Amazing Race” and “Minute to Win It.”
In addition to an “epic” level of fundraising, the event handily met another challenge, which was to raise community spirit, since students, teachers and volunteer parents all had a great time.
The next Epic Challenge is slated for this coming fall.
