The Emerald Canyon Trail, was one of the most popular hiking and biking trails in Laguna Coast Wilderness Park, reopened, park officials announced last week.

The train was closed in 2010 during a record rainstorm that washed out two large gullies in the middle of the trail and flooded Laguna Canyon and downtown Laguna Beach.

The Emerald Canyon trail begins at the top of Bommer Ridge and travels through oak woodlands and coastal sage scrub.

To re-open the trail, OC Parks partnered with Laguna Canyon Foundation and the Irvine Ranch Conservancy to construct and install two bridges.
