A pedestrian suffered minor arm injuries after a collision in a Laguna Beach intersection with a car, which fled northbound about 10 p.m. on Coast Highway last Friday, April 10, police said.

The vehicle was described as a light-colored four-door sedan, possibly a Toyota or Nissan Altima, said Sgt. Tim Kleiser.

The vehicle was traveling northbound and the side mirror on the driver’s side struck the pedestrian, on foot near Calliope Street, Kleiser said. Police did not locate the vehicle.

Trolley Attracts an Exhibitionist

A driver following a city trolley into town on Sunday, April 12, encountered a surprising anatomical display: a teen pulling his pants down and pressing his behind against the back window.

The motorist who informed police was none too thrilled by the display. But when she stopped the trolley to inform the driver about the offending passenger, those on board laughed at her, the police log says.

The uninhibited rider stepped off at Diamond Street before authorities arrived.

  1. There is NO excuse for this crosswalk to be so dangerous, and in my opinion, it is the City’s fault by not giving public safety the respect and priority it deserves. I have noted on multile occasions that the city would rather put revenue, no matter how gotten, over public safety.

Regarding the Calliope crosswalk, the city did good when it gave Public safety a little credit and eliminated the parking space southwest of the crosswalk,
which was causing a visual hazard.

With it’s out of proportion incidents of pedestrians, AND being in front of one of the major hotels in town, this crosswalk deserves overhead blinking signals for the pedestrians, the vehicles, AND the TOURISTS our Mayberry depends on. Many tourists don’t understand California driving, and DO need help when crossing Coast Highway.

    Sounds VERY simple to me!
