Car Accident at Lower Cliff Dr.

Car Collides With an Apartment

An elderly driver escaped injury Friday, Aug. 16 despite having crashed her car onto the first floor of an apartment building at 235 Lower Cliff Dr. at 11:44 a.m., Laguna Beach police said.

It took authorities an hour to extract the driver, who had to be cut from the car because of extensive damage, said Capt. Jason Kravetz. It took two tow trucks to extract the vehicle, said Sgt. Louise Callus, which came to rest perpendicular to a street-level carport.

Preliminary investigation indicates that she possibly hit the gas instead of the brakes and went through the barrier, Kravetz said.
