The girls and boys cross country teams are both ranked fourth in the season’s first CIF poll, thanks to strong showings at the Seaside Invitational last Friday, Sept. 6 in Ventura.

Schools large and small compete against one another at Seaside, which groups competitors by class without regard to CIF division. The top five finishers from each school’s entrants in four class races are added together for the merged team score.

The girls finished ninth out of 39 schools, ahead of many Division 1, 2 and 3 schools. The boys were 16th out of 37 schools, also ahead of many much larger schools.

The top seven Breaker girls and their finishing position and times were sophomore Pearl Shoemaker (10th, 18:30), senior Eliza Romero (12th, 18:35), junior Brenna Merchant (13th, 18:38), freshman Kirsten Landseidel (10th, 19:06), freshman Greer Jacobs (13th, 19:34), and juniors Natalie Kimball (36th, 19:35) and Solveig Erngren (37th, 19:36).

The top seven boys were junior Cameron Zuziak (12th, 15:34), senior Casiano Koprowski (22nd, 15:36), sophomore Drake Butler (25th, 16:18), junior Grant Barton (40th, 16:23), and sophomores Mason Pitz (32nd, 16:26), Tim Andrews (77th, 17:14) and Carter Fraser (82nd, 17:18).
