A one-day skimboarding contest open to amateur and professional skimboarders starts at 8 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, at Aliso Beach.

Contest entry fees will be donated to the Pacific Marine Mammal Center. Created by skimboarding world champion and local resident Sam Stinnett, the Sea Dog Skim Challenge awards ceremony will take place at a private home in South Laguna.

Join the event by signing up to compete, attending the ceremony, donating to PMMC or enjoying a day at the beach, says Stinnett in a statement.
