Chase Gioffredi shot a 73 to lead the Breakers to eighth place finish in the 20-team Southern Division team playoffs on Monday, May 15, at Mile Square Golf Course in Fountain Valley. This is the best finish for Laguna in years, one spot ahead of the 2015 squad. The other Laguna scores were: Ben Sharp – 77, Kyle Sharp – 78, Dante Fornaro – 81, and Gus Morck – 86. Breakers finished with a 395 ahead of Edison, 400; Newport Harbor, 401; Long Beach Poly, 402; Marina, 408; and Santa Monica, 413. Long Beach Wilson won the event with a 271 followed by Los Alamitos at 372. Both teams advance to the 14-team section championships May 18. In 1957 Laguna finished second overall and sixth in 1958.
