A group of seventh-graders who raised $2,500 to award two scholarships this year asked applicants to describe a funny or meaningful sports experience that improved their sportsmanship.
A total of 23 high school seniors sought the prize and submitted essays. The 10 Boys Who Care individually scored the applications based on their overall appeal and entertainment value. “It was a ton of reading and we talked about the best ones before we chose our winners,” said treasurer Sam Reynolds.
He and his nine peers will hand out their LBHS Good Sportsmanship Scholarship at the honors convocation on June 6.
