Bridget C. Graney, a longtime resident of Laguna Beach and Dana Point, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, Jan. 13. She was 91 years old.
Born and raised in County Mayo, Ireland, “Bridie” spent more than four decades running an in-home day care in Laguna Beach. Before settling there, she earned a nursing degree at the University of Oxford in England and met and married Edward Graney in Chicago, Ill. The couple was married for 58 years and had five children.
She was preceded in death by her husband and daughter, Eileen. Graney is survived by daughters Anne Hovas and Cathy Martino of Dana Point; Noreen Bernstein of Calgary, Alberta; son Edward Graney of Las Vegas, Nev.; and nine grandchildren.
A memorial mass will be held at St. Catherine of Siena, 1042 Temple Terrace, in Laguna Beach at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 7.
