Preparedness Committee Seeks Applicants

The City Council is currently accepting applications from residents to five seats on the advisory Emergency Disaster Preparedness Committee.

Applications must be filed with the city vlerk by 5 p.m., Tuesday June 11.  All applicants will be interviewed by the City Council at their regular meeting of Tuesday, June 18 at 6 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, 505 Forest Ave.

 

Fitness Maven Offers Zumba Demo

Fitness instructor Sheila Olsen is holding a free demo Zumba class at 8:30 a.m.  Tuesday, June 11, at Essence of Health Studio, 1956 S. Coast Highway, in Laguna Nursery.

A nine-week classes will be held at every Tuesday and Thursday from July 2 to Aug. 29, cost $270.

Planting a Seed for Glennwood’s Garden

Transition Laguna Beach is seeking volunteers to assist with a large garden installation from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, June 8, at the Glennwood House, Coast Highway and Diamond Street. The install will be followed by a community potluck lunch.

The Glennwood House for special needs adults expects to open in July.

 

Biblical Guide to Building a Business

Former elder and youth volunteer Troy Medley will speak at Laguna Presbyterian Church about biblical principles and tools that can be used to build a successful business Sunday, June 9 at 10 a.m.

 Artists Receive the Community’s Spiritual Support

Highlighting the summer season and the value of artists in our community, the annual “Blessing of the Artists” takes place at 7 p.m. Friday, June 7, at St. Catherine’s Church, 1042 Temple Terrace Dr.

Service Times Move Up

The mass held at St. Francis by the Sea Church, 430 Park Ave., will commence at 9:30 a.m. effective this Sunday, June 9, instead of its traditional start time at 10 a.m.

 

Catch TED Conference at Aliso Creek 

TEDxLagunaBeach will be hosting the live simulcast of the Wednesday, June 12 session from Edinburgh, Scotland, at Aliso Creek Inn, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
