Religious Services

The following are local services for Easter Sunday, March 31:

Church By the Sea: 6:30 a.m. sunrise service at the end Moulton Meadows Park down the fire road, and 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. at 468 Legion St.

Neighborhood Congregational Church: Rev. B.J. Beu leads an informal 6:30 a.m. sunrise service at Alta Laguna Park suffused with Native American spirituality, including flute and drumming to the four directions. At 10 a.m. at 340 St. Ann’s Dr., the service will feature musician James Grey, poet John Gardiner and choral music led by Pam Wicks.

Following worship, refreshments will be served across the courtyard in Bridge Hall and children are invited to join in the annual Easter egg hunt on the Montessori playground.

St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church: Good Friday, March 29, Solemn Liturgy, 1:30 p.m., 7 p.m. (Spanish) and 7 p.m. at the school chapel; Good Friday, March 29, Stations of the Cross, 4 p.m.; Holy Saturday, March 30, Great Easter Vigil, 8 p.m.; Sunday, March 31, 7:30, 9 and  11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. (Spanish); 1042 Temple Terrace.

St. Francis by the Sea Cathedral: 10 a.m. mass, 430 Park Ave.

St. Mary’s Episcopal Church: 5:30 a.m. vigil and 10:30 a.m. service (childcare and valet available), 428 Park Ave.

Laguna Presbyterian Church: 8, 9:30 and 11 a.m., 415 Forest Ave.

United Methodist Church: 6 a.m. sunrise service at Main Beach, and 10 a.m. worship service, 21632 Wesley Dr.

United Universalist Fellowship: 10:30 a.m., 429 Cypress Dr.

Laguna Beach Net-Works, a member of the Association of Vineyard Churches: Pastor Don Sciortino welcomes all at 10 a.m. at Mozambique restaurant, free breakfast and parking, 1740 S. Coast Highway. 949-328-7230.

 

Commence the Egg Hunt!

The annual Easter egg hunt sponsored by Laguna Beach American Legion post 22 and the Women’s Auxiliary at Laguna Beach High School baseball field will commence at 1 p.m. Easter Sunday, March 31. The event is free and is open to children 9 and under. The Easter Bunny will be making a special appearance before the event for those who come early (12:30 p.m.).

The Neighborhood Congregational Church will host its Easter Folk Dance Party March 31 from 6:30 to 10 p.m. in Bridge Hall, across from the sanctuary at 340 St. Ann’s Dr. The party will feature live music from Madison Avenue Folk as well as a sampling of dances for many different countries. Entrance fee is $5.
