Jason Viloria, who spent the current school year as associate superintendent of a school district in Encinitas, is being recommended as the next superintendent of the Laguna Beach school district, according to the school board agenda.

If the school board approves the recommendation at Tuesday’s regularly scheduled board meeting, he will succeed the six-year superintendent Sherine Smith, who announced last year her intention to retire at the end of the current school year.

Viloria worked for two years as the director of education services for the San Diegueto Union High School District before taking his current upper administrative post last July, according to his online profile. He previously worked as the principal of Woodbridge High in Irvine and earned his education degrees from Pepperdine.
