From Fine Food to Sweet Stories, HIP Shops Enrich the Highway

As the pumpkin spice flows and the Halloween lights glow, HIP District merchants are celebrating fall in Laguna Beach with promotions and special events. Located south on Coast Highway between Thalia Street and Bluebird Canyon Drive, Laguna’s HIP District is comprised of more than 100 stores including, fashions, boutiques, restaurants, cafes, galleries, hotels and so much more.

Sapphire Laguna welcomes autumn with a special one-night-only harvest dinner on Thursday, Oct. 17. Guest chef Fabrizio Schenardi promises dishes inspired by northern Italy, including homemade duck mortadella, ricotta and veal ravioli and roasted wild boar shank with polenta. Laguna Beach Books hosts several events: the monthly book club discusses “The Yellow Birds” by Kevin Powers on Wednesday, Oct. 16 at 6:30 p.m.; local author Suzanne Redfearn will be discussing her page-turner about a determined mother’s fight to rescue her children on Sunday, Oct. 20, at 5 p.m.; and, author Gordon McAlpine will be discussing his new book, “The Tell-Tale Start,” on Sunday, Oct. 27, at 2 p.m., all at 1200 S. Coast Highway.

Nutritionist and fitness expert Yvonne Bishop discusses toxins on  Tuesday, Oct. 15, at Essence of Health, 1360 S.
