Laguna Beach High School’s golf team, led by captain John Grayden’s strong performance, continued its march toward an Orange Coast League championship. LBHS beat Costa Mesa High School at Mesa Linda golf course 194 to 265 on Tuesday, April 21, to keep its sterling 7-0 league record.
“This was an important win for us because it keeps us two wins ahead of second place Estancia High School,” expressed assistant coach Sean Quigley. “We only have two more league matches, so mathematically we are now locked into at least a share of the league championship, although we still can win the league outright.”
This match also allowed LBHS the opportunity to switch around the line-up. For the first time in a varsity match, the team included five out of seven underclassmen, including four freshmen in the line-up.
