Laguna Shines at Boys Tournament
Boys Volleyball
Breaker players Tyler Alter, (16-Open MVP), and Jack Burgi opposite (17-Open) were selected to the 15-player division all-tournament teams at the 35th Annual USA Volleyball Boy’s Junior National Championships held June 28 – July 5 in Houston, Texas.
Alter was the starting middle blocker on the Breakers this past season and will be a junior.
Burgi was the starting opposite for the Breakers and will be a senior next season.
Laguna is coming off a 27-6 season that included a trip to the section finals and a State CIF Regional title. The squad will be among the favorites in 2015.
Six Laguna players were on the roster for the open division medal teams at the tournament:
18 Open: Bronze – Isaac Wulff, Jack Wyett
17 Open: Silver – Nicholas Rieckhoff, Reed Donenfeld
16 Open: Gold – Tyler Alter
15 Open: Gold – Cole Paxson
The Girls Junior Nationals were held in Minneapolis this season but no Laguna players made the open division all-tournament teams.
