AAA – UPS Store Delivers a Win

By Shelley Detweiler, LBLL Secretary

A recent game between The UPS Store and Morgan Stanley saw strong defense on both sides.  The defensive effort by Morgan Stanley’s infield managed to keep The UPS Store from scoring for the first two innings.  Thanks to consistent hitting by Morgan Stanley’s Plowden, Loughlin, and Hogenauer; enabling Bonnin to get on base and earn an RBI as Plowden crossed home – giving Morgan Stanley a 1-0 lead.

The second inning was all about pitchers. The UPS Store’s Casey Sorensen and Noah Haymond were able to get on base, but Morgan Stanley’s pitcher James Loughlin proceeded to strike out the next three batters. Daniel Kimball again took the mound for The UPS Store striking out their first two batters; and a quick throw from Dylan Brashier to second baseman Josh Meiswinkel made the third out.  Meiswinkel earned the only run for UPS in the third. Cal Nielson, Beck Kesler and John Hryn showed UPS strength in the outfield.  However, Morgan Stanley finished the inning with runs earned by Holm and Plowden maintaining their lead of 3-1.

The fourth and fifth innings saw a pitching duel between Morgan Stanley and The UPS Store’s Daniel Kimball and Jaden Rea, as pitchers from both teams threw a flurry of strikes!

Top of the sixth The UPS Store’s batters took over with a single from Dylan Brashier,  doubles hit by Josh Meiswinkel and Lance Detweiler, and a triple hit by Daniel Kimball. All four of them crossed home to give UPS Store a 5-3 win.
