Team Effort Leads Breakers past Newport 8-5

Girls Water Polo continued on their Sunset Surf League title quest as the Breakers dismantled Newport in a “home” league game played at Los Alamitos High School on Tuesday, Jan. 24. Cleo Washer scored first off a pass by Myha Pinto barely 90 seconds into the contest to open the scoring. Newport battled back to tie the game entering the break, but early in the third period, Kara Carver scored on a power play, and Laguna never looked back, pulling away in the final period. Lauren Short had a great third period providing the assist to Carver, then scoring herself on the next possession.
