Art is what elevates and illuminates the human condition.
So I just want to add my voice to the chorus of supporters for artist live/work subsidies funded by our city. Let’s not price artists out of existence from Laguna. It’s what so many of us fortunate folk moved here for; and why so many gifted artists are now being forced away.
Being an artist is one of the most difficult decisions one can make. As New York Magazine Pulitzer Prize-winning Art Critic Jerry Saltz says, “All artists are self-made, and outsiders. They make things or do things that they then have to convince people that they need.”
Please attend this Tuesday’s city council meeting in person or online to voice your support for finding solutions to keep our artists here. Thank you.
