Laguna Beach resident Michael Lewis is back in the hunt for the Formula 3 Italia championship after a win and a top-five finish last weekend at the Mugello Circuit in Italy.
After a solid performance at the last Formula 3 Italia race event at Vallelunga, Lewis’ objective for the Mugello race weekend was to qualify well and win to obtain as many championship points as possible and improve his position.
As a result of last weekend’s performance, Lewis made considerable ground on Formula 3 Italia Championship leader Sergio Campana. Lewis is ranked second, 19 points behind and he leads the rookie championship.

“My goal right now is to work hard and prepare for Monza,” said Lewis.
The final two races take place on Oct. 15 and 16.
