Mary Louise Huston

Mary Lou Huston, 88, of Laguna Beach, was born in Minnesota on Sept. 14, 1923 to Sverre and Gladys Narlin. She passed away peacefully in the early hours of Dec. 27, 2011, at home.
Huston was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Nancy Noonan, and her daughter, Holly Ott. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Daniel Huston, a World War II decorated Navy veteran; her daughters Haven (Arthur) Tieck and Hilary (Donald) Gorrie; grandchildren Ryan, Taryn and Bryn; and two great-granddaughters.
Mary Lou and Dan Huston moved with their girls to Laguna Beach in 1960. She worked for McCalla Pharmacy from 1964 for approximately 40 years until its closing, and loved every minute with her co-workers and customers. During their retirement, the couple enjoyed travels to Europe and by motor home throughout the U.S. and Canada.
Together with Dan, Mrs. Huston treasured her many long-time friends and family and was fiercely proud to still be living in their home on the hill with its spectacular ocean view, which she enjoyed every single day.
The family sends heartfelt thanks to caregiver Ellen Rose and her team, who took such loving care of Mrs. Huston during her difficult final years.
