Joanne Culverhouse, left, and Jenny Salberg square off in a taste test fundraiser.

Principal Joanne Culverhouse, who succeeded Don Austin as high school principal and twice defeated him in SchoolPower’s Lumberyard Chef Challenge, defends her title Nov. 14 against a worthy adversary.

Jenny Salberg, now principal of Thurston Middle School and Culverhouse’s sidekick for seven years, might know the menu to upend a three-peat for Culverhouse.

For those unfamiliar with the event, Suzanne and Cary Redfearn open up their restaurant to raise funds for Laguna schools. The dueling principals select a menu and the Lumberyard’s culinary team prepares and serves them both. After each course (there are three), patrons vote on their favorite and the winner is crowned at the end of the night.

The match takes place Monday, Nov. 14 at 6 p.m. Tickets are $95 per person (adults only) at www.lbschoolpower.org. or call 949-494-6811.
