Halloween isn’t far off, but Laguna Beach teachers and students will wear orange on Wednesday, Oct. 22, in support of bullying prevention.

At El Morro Elementary, a school-wide bullying prevention assembly is planned for Nov. 1.

In October, Rachel’s Challenge Kindness week will include several activities focused on kindness and caring at Top of the World Elementary School. And on Oct. 22, the school’s student council will make announcements about Unity Day and students will make kindness links during their lunch recess.

At Thurston Middle School, P.E. students will participate in a “Be an Upstander Not a Bystander” class presentation. Students will also be asked to sign a poster pledging their individual commitment to being united for the day. To underscore the message, special orange entrees will be on the school lunch menu and the campus will be decorated with orange balloons.

At Laguna Beach High School, student leaders are working on bullying prevention activities this month, including encouraging peers to interact with different students during lunch and the advisory period.
