Local American Legion Post officers Richard Moore and Dave Connell were on hand this week during a bridging ceremony for Laguna Beach Girl Scouts ready to move on to the next level of scouting.

Legion representatives took part in the ceremony to describe proper flag etiquette to scouts and guests.

As part of the ceremony, Brownie troop 444 had donated a special U.S. flag flown in Afghanistan for use at the Girl Scout House. During a troop service project, Brownies collected sundry items for troops in Afghanistan. In gratitude, a captain stationed at Bagram sent the troop an American flag that “…flew in the face of the enemy…,” according to co-leader Rebecca Meekma.
