Breaker girls are still alive for a Division 7 playoff spot but must win their May 4 contest at Costa Mesa (15-6, 3-3) to have a clear chance. The two schools last met on April 17 with the second-ranked Mustangs prevailing 12-10.  Godinez (6-0) and Calvary (4-1) appear to be the locks for two of the three league playoff slots and an at-large wild-card spot will only be awarded if the division has less than 32 automatic qualifying schools.  Laguna’s division with 116 schools exceeded this last season by six schools.

Laguna got back into the race with a sweep of their series with Estancia (12-7, 2-4) beginning with a 10-4 victory at Thurston on Wednesday, April 25, followed by a 6-4 win at Estancia on Monday, April 30. Emily Thomas was key on Monday with a complete game striking out eight. Eagle errors in the sixth inning aided the Laguna win. In the 10-4 victory, Breakers were down 4-1 before fielding errors by the visiting Eagles assisted the Laguna comeback.
