Squeezing in More Spaces

Editor,

If Laguna Beach removed all parking space lines which are now painted with extra space between the parking space lines, added parking kiosks dispensing receipts for dashboards, and let as many cars park more tightly on the streets (car sizes differ dramatically-many smaller cars today), we could find 200 more spaces between Jasmine and Cress Streets, inland three blocks from Coast Highway.

There are at least two places in front of Starbucks on Coast Highway, six spaces in front of the Marine Room and Hennessey’s and 20 spaces on Park Avenue as a start. Many cities in America park in a much tighter fashion without defining specific spaces. And in the mean time we could save $65 million.
