Live Grenade Prompts Evacuation

A construction site on San Jose Street in Arch Beach Heights was temporarily evacuated last Monday after a worker discovered an old grenade and brought the find to his boss at a construction office 1.6 miles away on Glenneyre Street, police said.

The county bomb squad took possession of the live WWII era grenade, said Lt. Jason Kravetz.

The construction workers flagged down a fire employee driving by on Glenneyre to report the incident, Kravetz said. The worker found the grenade in a closet, he said.
