Laguna Beach High School junior Alia Manetta received the Violet Richardson Award from the Soroptimist International of the Newport Harbor Area earlier this month.
The award marks International Women’s Day, which honors young women for their volunteerism. Alia was recognized for establishing the Laguna Beach goat club, which supports the R Star Foundation’s work in Nepal to provide goats to poor families and build schools.
