Volleyball Season Ends in Semifinals

Corona del Mar holds Off Breakers

Breakers (24-7) advanced to the semifinals for the eighth consecutive year but were unable to get by the Sea Queens (31-3), losing Tuesday, Nov. 15, at a near capacity Dugger Gym  25-20, 25-23, 17-25, 25-16.

 

Laguna trailed for most of set one but in set two held a 10-1 lead at one point before slowly letting CdM back into the game. Sea Queens tied the set at 19 to eventually pull away for the second set win. Breakers rallied from an early deficit in the third set to win going away and held on to a lead midway into the fourth set before a series of long rallies went Corona’s way as they pulled out the set and match win.

 

Alyse Wallace-Ford finished with 31 kills and 10 digs, Marina Paul closed out her career with 12 kills and 15 digs while Allison Palmer added2 kills, a solo block, 11 digs, and 35 assists. Caroline Holte had 7 kills and four blocks.

 

Breakers had advanced to the semi’s with sweeps of Glendora 25-16, 25-14, 25-18, Valencia 25-17, 25-22, 25-11, and Murietta Valley 25-10, 25-12, 25-17.
